Bouldering in the Peak District
Even absolute novices will rapidly be climbing sheltered Peak District outcrops on this two-day course. Learners will learn securing the rope, belaying and several methods of ascent, plus descending. Limited to six participants to each tutor, there is plenty of individual attention and personalised targets. This program is suitable for anyone over the age of 13 and over, from absolute beginners to those with a bit of gym climbing background. Non-Representational Art in AndalucĂa
This historic hillside village, a ancient town in southern Spain, around 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the stimulating backdrop for this creative getaway. Painters of all abilities – including beginners – will learn how to conceive and execute non-representational pieces. Part of the schedule will be spent outdoors, working on tutorials in the open. These sketches and paintings will then be developed in the studio, with attendees producing multiple interpretive scenes in acrylics to be exhibited in the local community. Participants has exclusive access of the hotel, which is set around an open courtyard and has a rooftop with panoramic vistas over the hills. The cost covers five days of painting tuition; full board; and an excursion to the local castle and other local sights.

Vegetarian Cooking in the Algarve
This Mediterranean culinary holiday, located at a villa by the river in the inland Algarve, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of renowned chefs. Attendees will master the art of selection of small dishes, attend a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains including spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are visits to the village market and a nearby winery to sample Portuguese wines, along with leisure time for walks by the Funcho River, to relax on the deck or take a dip in the pool. The accommodation, a renovated rural property, has multiple rooms, plus glamping tents in the grounds.

Hip Hop in High Wycombe
This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule each day is a high-energy warm-up session, then several 90-minute workshops teaching various street dance styles, then an 60-minute freestyle session to demonstrate new moves. Participants are split into groups based on ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to street dance, right up to experienced performers or teachers. This event doesn’t include lodging but there are a number of hostels and hotels within walking distance, and it is 23-35 minutes by rail into central London.

Maritime Singing Weekend in Cornwall
St Ives is the perfect setting for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will learn historic sailing songs from a folk singer and vocal coach, and have a go at composing original ones. The schedule includes voice exercises, breathing exercises, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The retreat is based at a rural hotel overlooking St Ives Bay. All meals are provided, including a Cornish cream tea on arrival, breakfast options, lunches to go and three-course dinners. Traditional rum, unfortunately, is not provided. Writing in Greece
Writer and tutor Greg Mosse runs the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He covers topics including story structure, character development, setting and tension, to sending manuscripts to publishers. Greg’s wife, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will participate in special sessions at the start and finish of the retreat. The holiday is based at a traditional complex in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – ten private accommodations surround a central garden with a pool (companions are encouraged to come along). On the final evening, budding authors celebrate with a musical performance in the garden and a farewell dinner.
