The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
