Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault
Two individuals are now facing charges in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.
The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two women were robbed of their suitcases stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, according to law enforcement.
A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were subsequently released.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a limited duration.
